Breathing Apparatus Training Gallery

Advanced Simulation for SCBA User Readiness Designed by Joseph Leslie Dynamiks (JLD), this facility goes beyond basic equipment familiarization. It is engineered to train Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) users to perform tasks effectively while under significant mental and physical stress.

The Breathing Apparatus Training Gallery is a specialized facility that improves trainee performance in orientation, casualty rescue, industrial rescue, and reaction times. It provides a safe, controlled environment where users can practice work skills in areas of restricted movement.

The training program is designed to deliver more than just "donning and doffing" knowledge; it physically and mentally stresses the trainee to simulate real-world emergency conditions.

Key Components & Features

1. The Maze (Training Labyrinth)

The core of the gallery is a reconfigurable maze designed to disorient and challenge trainees.

  • Construction: Built from a tubular steel framework with wire mesh side panels and wood floor panels.
  • Orientation Route: Includes a specific orientation section and passageways with obstacles to create restricted maneuverability.
  • Modular Layout: Allows training staff to construct new layouts (domestic, commercial, or industrial) in a short time, preventing trainees from becoming familiar with the route.

2. The Work Room (Physical Stress Simulation)

This section simulates heavy physical stress to test user endurance under practice conditions. Available simulations include:

  • Endless Ladder
  • Treadmill
  • Stationary Cycle
  • Work Machine
  • Customizable exercises available as per user requirements

3. Simulation Effects

To heighten realism, the gallery employs various environmental effects:

  • Smoke Machines
  • Strobe Lights
  • Infrared Cameras for visibility in smoke
  • Directional & Gallery Lights
Safety & Control Systems

Safety is paramount. The facility ensures trainees are continuously monitored and can be evacuated instantly if difficulties arise.

  • Central Control Station: An ergonomic control desk with a PLC panel allows instructors to monitor and control the entire session.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Instructors track trainees via communication systems, infrared cameras, and optional thermal imaging.
  • Emergency Intervention: In case of panic or unsafe conditions, a single-button emergency control activates lighting and ventilation while cancelling other effects.
  • Evacuation Design: The maze panels are designed for easy access to evacuate a distressed trainee immediately.
  • Ventilation: A dedicated system exhausts smoke effectively after sessions or during emergencies.
